Active School Travel Investment Logic and Scoping Study, Merri-bek City Council
Project manager and lead analyst (2024)
Applied Victoria’s investment management standard to identify a preferred response (Open Streets and local area traffic interventions) to increase children’s active transport to school. Prepared a scoping study in conjunction with an investment concept brief, to assist with Council’s ongoing advocacy efforts.
Overview
Investment Mapping is a structured approach to help policy teams and stakeholders address complex societal issues through a series of guided workshops. These workshops are designed to distill the root cause of a problem, challenge existing assumptions, identify critical benefits, and prioritize investments in the most suitable interventions.
The process culminates in the creation of two key deliverables:
Investment Logic Map (ILM): A visual representation that captures the problem, its root causes, and the critical benefits of addressing it.
Investment Concept Brief (ICB): A document that provides a compelling narrative for the recommended solutions and their potential impact.
Led by Laura Aston, who has completed facilitator training in Victoria’s Investment Management Standard and is currently undergoing accreditation, all workshops adhere to this recognised framework, ensuring a robust and credible investment management process.
